Three Things Needed For Blog Success: Vision For Blogs
The bully pulpit is a blessing. I am often amazed how much you can get done when you focus on it. In 2010, I wrote an article for Yahoo! Voices “3 Things Every Small Business Must Have to Succeed.” I appreciate what I learned from others. Today, I see the same need for blog’s success. Today I work from a black slate. Like chalk board that is fresh in front of students in a new grade in a new school year. I was open to learn about blog success.
Energy is a key element of how to progress positively. Since that time my vision changed a little. I now have a clear vision for blogs. With the proper advisors, faith and positive energy even the impossible is possible. I will speak to that in the next blog post.
I struggle to get perspective on life at times. Many occasions I get distracted. I was blessed to attend New Media Expo. I make no mistake or pretense about it; NMX was a miracle for me. It blessed my mind, body, and soul.
At NMX, I attended a session on what blogs must do to get 1,000,000 impressions. Let me go back 4 years. I wrote another article for Yahoo! Voices. I focused on becoming a Yahoo millionaire. My goal was to get there by the end of that year. I didn’t make it. I semi gave up on the dream. I didn’t give up on the formula, as I stated in another article. I gave up based upon my desire for the time line I’d chosen. The goal of being a Yahoo millionaire was still relevant to me. When I reached that milestone, there were other milestones to climb. I became a level 3 contributor. I became a featured writer. I did all I could to analyze why Yahoo worked for others; but didn’t work as I thought it would for me. But the biggest point of all, I now had a new goal. My goal is 1,000,000 impressions a month. That is my vision for blog success: “1,000,000″ impressions a month.
To help reach my goal, I introduced myself to Bill Belew of billbelew.com.
2) Write more
3) Write better
4) Write more often
5) Write until you get the results
One point Mr. Belew stated “Nothing will beat your own resolve”. I think that point washed over the packed audience. “Nothing will beat your own resolve”, no mater what nay sayers say. I remember the moment I resolved to come to Blogworld Vegas. It was the very moment I knew without a shadow of doubt, I would not attend Blogworld New York. I’m on the East Coast. New York is a 4 hour drive away. I’ve driven to New York in the morning for a day trip and come back that evening. New York is a 45 minute flight. I’ve missed my flight to New York and caught the next one to catch up to a coworker. I desperately wanted to go to Blogworld New York because it was so close. But I didn’t have the time, money or the ability to get there.
I didn’t get it. I believed I would attend the conference in New York. I told people how much I wanted to be there. I had faith that everything would work out with me going. I had every intention of attending. But that moment of clarity defined my new direction; I resolutely stated I will be at NMX Vegas.
In 2013, I’m learning new things. I’ve been exposed to Lifechurch.tv. It has a virtual ministry that holds service every few hours. I was amazed by Life Church’s Pastor whom stated author Andy Stanley stated best “Direction not intention determines destination!” If you keep on living and doing things as you are doing them, you will get the same results.
This Pastor’s word touched my soul. I do things in a way now with more direction and passionate purpose. I let God define the path and I yeild and say yes. I’ve been slow at times to say yes, but I say yes. I work with the change and relate to my life lessons in the process.
Psalms 84:10 states
The Pastor of Life Church used that as one of his scriptures while speaking to this series topic “My story: What God wants us to stop.” I thought to myself. In my story, I would direct my path. Now, I submit more to God’s will and let His will lead me. Led me to fast and pray as I go onto Vegas NMX. Led me to meet with the right Christian bloggers in a den of sin city with a purpose of advacing the kingdom and a purpose driven cause. Led me to be blessed with the miracle of a $2000 trip to Vegas to get the invaluable contacts like Bill Belew.
Jethro trained Moses in Exodus 18:22. Jethro said “Stop doing everything, what you are doing is not good.” He put Moses on the right path to work all things for God’s purpose in his life.
My blog is about passion, power, and purpose. NMX and its speakers really helped find my God given purpose. It’s my blessing to help others from this bully pulpit to find their passion, power, and purpose. I’m thankful to Hebrews 12:1-2
