Ok I get it now! At least I’m coming to a better understanding everyday. To start with, I didn’t understand why anyone would pay $100 – $200 for a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. I wondered “Who really had that much extra money?” The only people I could think of were kids spending their entire allowance or their parents money on the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. I first saw the beats headset when I was buying my iPhone. Beats by Dr. Dre earbuds were also an option. I also saw a set of beats speaker headsets. At that time, I just ignored it as a frivolous oddity.

So I proceeded to loose my first set of headphones. I went to a local electronics store to speak to the experts.

So I asked “Why Buy Beats Wireless Headphone”.

Electronic Sales Expert “I own a pair. But I only bought them because someone gave me the money for them. They basically paid for the for me to have them.”

I asked “Is it worth the $100 to $200/

Electronic Sales Expert “No, But no set of headphones even comes close to the sound you get with beats headphones. You hear everything. The base is incredible. It makes all other headphone pail in comparison.”

So in my mind I hear everything, but he started off with “NO”.

Even though I didn’t buy the beats headphones that day I kept what he said in mind. In fact, I considered it as a testament. My thought was if I loose or lost another pair of headphones, I’d consider beats. But I needed to get a solid reason to make it make sense.

Why I Bought The Less Expensive Headphones

I went on to purchase a typical good quality set of ear buds. In fact, this is the 4th set of ear buds I’ve purchased. This set was about $20. Mind you, you can find ear buds for $6 each. I’ve used several. I’ve even used these for which I have affiliate link here. But in perspective, I have the headphones break or get lost. About 3 weeks after acquiring this set of headphones, they broke. To be exact, I had the phone out of my ears. They happened to be dangling out of my pocket as I walked through a door. Opened the door which closed on the ear bud. As I walked unaware the earbud was in the door and “POP”. I felt it before I saw it.

I was frustrated to say the least. I just met with some kids that had beats wireless headphones. One kid had the headset. I had a chance to understand why kids purchased this particular headset.

I first found out the headset were bluetooth, by an after thought. So one kid didn’t see any wires. He said “Let me try those, show me how it worked”. I live vicariously through him in that moment. The owner of the beats headphones, put his headphones on the other kid and then connected them temporarily to his phone. The other kid loved it. Then he wanted to know what it takes to make it a permanent connection. So to say the least, the kid without beats fell in love with the headphones.

The fact that the beats are bluetooth surprised me. I never thought about no wires, but it makes so much sense. That wire has been the biggest challenge for me with headphones. Any headphones with wires has the potential to be broken.
